Business trip to Greenwood, South Carolina!

About two weeks ago I was asked to travel to Greenwood, South Carolina to meet with a business partner. Obviously I agreed because I love to travel! I really wasn’t sure what to expect as this was my first adventure to South Carolina. I landed in Greenville and picked up my rental car which was a 2011 Dodge Charger. I was really surprised by the sharp looks and the great handling of this car. Although I don’t think I’d ever buy one I definitely enjoy driving it. Picture below!

After a 50 minute drive and learning that AVIS didn’t update the software on the Garmin GPS unit they provided I arrived in Greenwood. I was really surprised by the friendliness of the hotel staff at the Hampton Inn. The travel agency I used booked me a smoking room but thankfully the hotel staff was able switch me to a non-smoking room, they actually had to change another persons reservation to make it happen! Greenwood has A LOT of restaurants they were all so cheap and they gave such large portions. Now I understand when people say Americans eat bad! Everything is deep fried! Overall I must say Greenwood is a nice area to visit. The people are friendly and there are lots of golf courses if you are into golfing.. Also lots of trees and green areas! One thing to note about Greenwood is the residents really giant rims on their automobiles! I’ve captured some pictures from my trip below!

Support me in the Relay For Life!

This year once again I’m a member of The Sideways Pirates Relay For Life team! Last year our team raised over $3300.00! This is my second year participating in the Relay for Life. I am really excited about participating in this year’s Canadian Cancer Society Relay For Life because I want to help support a great cause.

Every year millions of people across the world are affected by cancer directly and indirectly. I’ve had family and friends of all ages who have both survived or lost their fight against cancer.

Simply put.. I relay for everyone.

Help me reach my goal. You can be part of a community that takes up the fight. Please pledge me now and help make cancer history. Online pledging is secure and it saves the Society money by reducing administrative costs – it means the money you give can go further to help the fight against cancer.

Please visit http://convio.cancer.ca/goto/robert

Thanks for your support!

BlackBerry Playbook Demo from Rogers TabLife

If you are a BlackBerry addict (and I sure am) you would have already heard about the much anticipated BlackBerry Playbook tablet. Up until now there wasn’t any good quality demos of the device other then what was shown at the BlackBerry Developer Conference. On December 3rd 2010, at Rogers TabLife event David Neale, Vice President of Special Projects at Research In Motion Limited gave a long demo and answered a number of questions about the device. Check out the video below.

Very excited for this QNX based device!

Movember is here!

Well this post is kind of late as I’m already 17 days into the event but It’s Movember , the month formerly known as November! I would first like to thank everyone for their support last year. I had a lot of fun growing a Handle Bar Moustache and sporting it at my work Holiday party.

Once again I’ve decided to donate my face to raising awareness about prostate cancer.  My donation and commitment is the growth of a moustache for the entire month of Movember, which I know will generate conversation, controversy and laughter. I’m doing this because 4,400 men die of prostate cancer in Canada each year and one in six men will be diagnosed during his lifetime. This is a cause that I feel passionately about and I’m asking you to support my efforts by making a donation to Prostate Cancer Canada.

To help, you can either:

* Click this link http://ca.movember.com/mospace/466407/ and donate online using your credit card or PayPal account.
* Write a cheque payable to Prostate Cancer Canada, referencing my name or Registration Number 466407 and mailing it to: Prostate Cancer Canada, Suite 306 145 Front Street East, Toronto, ON M5A 1E3, Canada.

All donations are tax deductible to the extent permitted by law.

Something else I found today that I thought was interesting is the YouTube video below… Ladies please take it seriously! :)
